"Let my father's sacrifice be a reminder. No distraction is worth a life." Powerful words from an 18-year-old girl who lost her father when she was only 8 years old after a distracted driver hit him on the side of the road. Claire Dees' dad, Nicholas Dees, was a trooper and was hit and killed while working a crash on Interstate 40 in Seminole County on January 31, 2015. Every year at the end of January, OHP does a two week distracted driving emphasis in honor of Trooper Dees and his sacrifice. This morning's press conference kicked off that emphasis. We want to remind everyone - put away the distractions and devote your full time and attention to the road while driving. It could mean the difference between life and death.
