🎮ESPORTS STATE CHAMPS‼️ Savage Esports is done for the spring and what an ending! On Monday, 10 Savages traveled to Bixby to compete in the Oklahoma Scholastic Esports White-Tail Deer Division State Championship. Savages won against Shawnee and Weatherford for the state title in Overwatch 2 in what can only be described as “the best game of Overwatch I have ever seen in my life,” says Coach Kiper! Savages later won against McAlester and Glenpool for the state title in Marvel: Rivals, the first state champions in our division! Savages were also recognized for their accomplishments in NBA 2K25, winning state and state runner up! They also received recognition for the state runner up title in MLB The Show 24! In the three years this program has existed, Broken Bow has earned 7 state titles and 7 state runners up, as well as multiple playoff appearances! #AmazingSuccess #AlwaysSavage #StateChampionsAGAIN

Jaxie Lee Glasson (4.674) is the daughter of Clint and Shauna Glasson, and the granddaughter of Jimmy and the late Donna Jackson of Broken Bow, as well as Terry and the late Cletis Glasson of Valliant.
She has actively participated in Student Council, History Club, Key Club, and Pep Club for four years. Within the Student Council, Jaxie holds positions as Community Service Chairman, Student Life Chairman, and Historian. Additionally, she is involved in 3N1 Student Ministry, is a member of both the National and Oklahoma Honor Societies, was chosen as Broken Bow High School’s Nicest Girl and October Senior of the Month by the Lions Club. Jaxie has been an integral part of the fast-pitch softball, basketball, and slow-pitch softball teams for four years. She has consistently been recognized for her athletic excellence, being named All-district in fast-pitch softball for four consecutive years, Player of the Year in basketball during her sophomore year and receiving the Heart of a Champion award in basketball her senior year. Her leadership qualities have been recognized through the Rotary Youth Leadership Award, and she has attended both the Basic and Advanced leadership conferences hosted by the Oklahoma Association of Student Councils. Jaxie plans to continue her education at Connors State College, where she will pursue her chosen degree and compete in collegiate-level softball.

Claire Rylee Burris (4.646) is the daughter of Brad and Tracy Burris. She is the granddaughter of Roy and Terrie Burris, Brenda Phillips, and David Phillips and the late Pam Phillips.
Burris is the Oklahoma Association of Student Council District 4 Secretary and former Student Council Special Needs Committee Chairman. She is also Captain of the Varsity Cheerleading Team, and Co-Leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athlete organization.
She has been a member of Student Council, Spanish Club, History Club, Junior Chamber Leadership Program, Varsity Golf, and Showstopper and Showtime choir. She is a two-time Oklahoma All-State Chorus member, Miss Broken Bow 2023, Oklahoma Youth Tour Delegate, and has received the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Award as well as being selected as a Rotary Youth Leadership delegate.
Claire also was named UCA All-American Cheerleader, and has the opportunity to represent her school in Hawaii while participating in the Pearl Harbor Memorial Day parade. Burris has also been named Kiwanis Sophomore of the Year as well as named Senior of the Month for the Broken Bow Kiwanis Club and the Lions Club.
Claire has received the honor to serve the Oklahoma Association of Student Council as a Junior Counselor, and will represent the Oklahoma Youth Tour delegation as an organization ambassador. Burris is a member of the National and Oklahoma Honor Societies, was voted the Outstanding Girl in her class for two years, and Broken Bow High School's Most Likely to Succeed.
Claire plans on attending Ouachita Baptist University where she plans to pursue a double major in finance and strategic communications.

Jonathan William Schwartz (4.633) is the son of Karla and Lewis Schwartz and the
grandson of Bill and Kitty Schwartz. He has two older siblings, Cameron and Rachael
Schwartz.
Jonathan has received many honors, including National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society, Lions Club Senior of the month,state curriculum contest competitor, and Top 10%. He is a four year member of the Savage football team, three year member of the powerlifting team, and member of the Trinity Baptist Church.
Jonathan plans on attending Missouri University of Science and Technology to study
computer science and chemistry.

🏆Broken Bow sophomore Greydon Howell is the 2025 Class 4A State Champion in the 400-meter run‼️
Howell finished the race with a personal best time of 48.26 seconds, more than one full second ahead of his closest competitor, capturing the gold medal.
Howell also outran the boys' competition at 200 meters but was disqualified for stepping on the line between the running lanes, preventing him from winning a second gold medal at the meet. He also placed 6th as a member of the 4X400 relay, along with Isaiah Fields, Cole Patrick, and Sky Baker. Baker also finished 5th in the 400-meter run. Senior discus thrower Kyler Cupit scored the only other points for the boys with a 7th place finish. As a team, the Savages scored 22 points and finished 15th in Class 4A.
In the girls' competition, Sophomore Jaylen Cauthron brought home a silver medal in the high jump. Bronze medals went to Senior Kennedee Brittain in the shot put, and freshman Kylee Burris in the 100-meter dash. Burris also finished 4th in the 200-meter run, while Brittain also captured 6th place in the discus throw. Senior Haylie Brantley finished fifth in the 800-meter run, to go along with her 6th place finish in the 400-meter run. Sophomore Miranda Frazier placed 5th in the 300-meter hurdles.
The Lady Savages also scored team points in the relay events, with Cauthron, Burris, Frazier, and Amiya Cherry teaming up to finish 5th in the 4X100 relay. The 4X400 relay team of Cauthron, Burris, Frazier and Brantley finished in 7th place for the Lady Savages' final four points of the meet, giving them a total of 51 points and an 8th place team finish.

2025 Oklahoma FFA Convention Broken Bow FFA students took on the state convention this past Tuesday and Wednesday! We had many students recognized and highlighted throughout the week. We had 25 students attend. 🏆 Kris McCune - recieved a scholarship for the Future Ag Education acadamy. 🏆 State Winning Forestry Team, attended the breakfast of Champions. 🏆 Charity Elliott, Cameron Cooke, Laney Hamlin and Chauncey Owens all received the prestigious State FFA Degree and were recognized on stage. 🏆 Broken Bow FFA was recognized for the hunger challenge.

🕊️It is with profound sadness that Broken Bow Schools must announce the passing of Korey Nnokam, a member of Broken Bow High School's Class of 2025. Korey tragically lost his life in an automobile accident on Friday, May 9th.
Korey Nnokam was a beloved student-athlete at BBHS. His spirit and presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Our deepest and most sincere sympathy goes out to his family, friends, and to our entire Savage Family during this difficult time.
🕯️A candlelight vigil service will be held at Memorial Stadium on Sunday, May 11th, beginning at 7:00 PM, to celebrate Korey’s life and legacy. Those attending the vigil may want to bring folding chairs and blankets with them to the stadium.
Please keep Korey's loved ones in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn the loss of a truly special soul. Grief counselors will be available in the BBHS Library on Monday when school resumes for anyone struggling with grief over this tragic loss.

Miley Faith Trent (4.617) is the daughter of Tyson and Candi Trent, and the
granddaughter of Johnny and Carol Long of Idabel, and Gary and Freddie Trent of Fort
Towson.
Miley is a member of Oklahoma and National Honor Societies, and has maintained top 10% of her class through high school. Miley is President of History Club, and has served as Key Club President for the past 2 years. She is a member of Showtime Show Choir and has been named an Oklahoma Education Award for Arts Excellence recipient for Vocal Performance. She is a three year member of the OKMEA All-State Mixed Choir, four year member of the Southeast All-District Honor Choir, a member of the OKCDA All-State Treble Choir her freshman year, and has received Superior ratings and State Qualifier for OSSAA Solo & Ensemble District Competitions.
She was a member of the Lady Savages’ Slow-Pitch and Fastpitch softball teams,
basketball team, and the Academic Team where she achieved Top 10 High Scorer for
County and District. She is currently a member of the Spanish Club, Fellowship of
Christian Athletes, and Student Council where she serves as Freshman Mentor. She
was selected to emcee for the Savage Pride Band performances, pep assemblies, and
Miss Broken Bow Pageant. She also serves as the Student Assistant Athletic
Trainer/Manager for the Savages’ football and track teams. Miley has interned with the
Broken Bow Media Team to provide live-streaming and videos for Savages’ athletic
events; and with Chance Physical Therapy to gain athletic training experience.
Miley was recognized as Outstanding BBHS Freshman and Sophomore Girl, Kiwanis Club
Senior of the Month for August, and Lions Club Senior of the Month for January. She
has been selected to serve as an Intern at Camp Cargill/OKAG Youth Camp this summer.
Miley plans to attend the University of Oklahoma to major in Health and
Exercise Science; and then pursue a Master’s Degree in Athletic Training.

Peyton Thomas Brannan (4.583) is the son of J.T. and Brandi Brannan. He is the
grandson of Tommie and Richard Brannan of Wright City and Clay and Margie Mussett
of Valliant.
Brannan is the Student Council Vice President, and class Vice President for
two years. He is a member of Student Council, Spanish Club, History Club, Broken
Bow Junior Chamber, and the Oklahoma Energy Resource Student Board of Directors.
He is a semi-finalist for the Gates Scholarship, a semi-finalist for the Most Valuable
Student Elks scholarship as well as being selected Senior of the Month for the Broken
Bow Kiwanis Club and the Lions Club. Brannan is the President of National Honor
Society and a member of Oklahoma Honor Societies. Peyton was voted the most likely
to succeed in his senior class and Outstanding Boy in his class for four years.
Peyton plans on attending Oklahoma State University where he will pursue a petroleum
engineering degree.
