Yesterday 6 of our FFA chapter officers attended the Southeast Area Chapter Officer Leadership Training in McAlester, OK. At this one day conference, the chapter officers heard from a keynote speaker about how to Empower themselves and others in the chapter. They also got to go to workshops with the state officers where they discussed the responsibilities of their officer positions. Broken Bow Cross Country varsity girls and boys are in Poteau this Friday at Carl Albert State College. Boys run at 9:30am and Girls at 10am Go BBXC!

The Broken Bow Varsity Girls Softball Team loses to Caddo 2 to 1 and defeats Coalgate 7 to 5. The Savage Softball Scoreboard is sponsored in part by Bailey's Lumber Company.

Junior Wide Receiver/Defensive Back Tyrin Tinajero and his teammates will host the 5A Durant Lions Friday at Memorial Stadium in Broken Bow at 7:30 p.m. Tinajero will be looking for opportunities to make plays on offense, defense and special teams as the Savages look to open things up and spread the field against Durant. Junior Offensive Lineman/Defensive Lineman Rhys Hoover and his teammates will host the 5A Durant Lions Friday at Memorial Stadium in Broken Bow at 7:30 p.m. Hoover and the Savage line will face 4-star recruit and Oregon commit Xadavian Sims as the Lions try to avenge their defeat last year by Broken Bow in Durant. Broken Bow played the 3rd-ranked Class 5A McAlester Buffaloes to a draw for three quarters Friday night before the Buffaloes pulled away in the final period to win 23-13 in the Week 0 opener for both football teams. Despite not having the benefit of a pre-season scrimmage, the Savage defense held their own against State Runner-Up McAlester, forcing several three-and-outs and stopping the Buffs on a 4th-and-short late in the game. Sophomore quarterback Anthony Clay exhibited his scrambling and running skills, turning would-be sacks into positive yardage multiple times in his first varsity start. Senior standout Kyran Whitfield, despite being double-covered most of the night, flew past the McAlester secondary for a 61-yard TD reception with 4:50 left in the 3rd Quarter as Broken Bow tied things up 13-13. The Savages show a great deal of promise as many new starters, including a large contingent of underclassmen, fared well in their first outing. Broken Bow will face another 5A school this coming Friday, when they host the Durant Lions at Memorial Stadium. Thanks to our partners for their support of Broken Bow Savage football.
