Bennett Elementary Fifth Graders Ariell Anderson and Damarian Byrd are headed to Atlanta, Georgia, to compete in The Amazing Shake Contest!
What is the Amazing Shake Contest?
The contest is held every spring at The Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. Top students from all over the world travel to compete here. The competition consists of students going through different scenarios where they are expected to respond appropriately to various situations. For example, they may have to pretend they are on a cooking show or demonstrate proper etiquette at the dinner table. Students will also go through corporate interviews and debate current issues. This competition will challenge students to think on their feet and see how they respond to various situations. They will be scored and given feedback at each of the stations.
How did we pick students?
In December, all of our 5th graders had the opportunity to compete in our in-house Amazing Shake Contest. They went through four different rounds, all judged by outside individuals who do not teach the students on a daily basis. The four rounds included: corporate interview, handshake, makeup station, and restaurant manager. At each station, they were rated on a scale of 1-25 (25 being the highest possible score). Both Ariell and Damarian tied with a score of 92 out of 100 possible points!
When is the contest?
Ariell, Damarian, Ms. Hall, and Mrs. Clardy will all fly out to Atlanta this Thursday, March 26th! The students will be competing from Friday to Sunday. We are so excited for this new opportunity and for our students to shine! They have been working hard. If you see Ariell or Damarian, be sure to wish them good luck!

⚾Savage Varsity Baseball captured three wins in their four outings of the Southeast Shootout Baseball Festival held during Spring Break week.
On Monday, Christian Martinez got the win on the mound and Bladen Meddock had the hot bat as the Savages downed the Warner Eagles 5-4.
Tuesday's action saw a back-and-forth affair against the Bridge Creek Bobcats, with the Savages drawing a bases-loaded walk to score the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Bladen Meddock hit a home run in the game and Jett Johnson gave up just four hits in his six innings pitched as the Savages prevailed for a 6-5 victory.
On Wednesday, Broken Bow overpowered the Meeker Bulldogs as the Savages rolled to an easy 14-0 win in the run-rule shortened contest. Crew Pratt had a homerun in the game, Paxton O'Neill hit a triple and drove in three runs, and Greydon Howell had two hits and scored three runs in four-inning affair. Gage Smith and Will Scott combined on the mound for the two-hit shutout.
Coming into Thursday's game, both Harrah and Broken Bow were looking to complete a perfect sweep of their 2025 Southeast Shootout opponents. The Panthers jumped out early against starting pitcher Kale Ginn, opening a 3-0 lead after just two innings of play. The Savages rallied back, scoring four runs to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 5th inning. The Panther bats came alive in the final two innings against reliever Christian Martinez, scoring six runs in the final two innings for the 9-5 victory and a four game sweep of their Southeast Shootout opponents. For the Savages, it was their only loss of the festival and just their second loss overall of the young season.
