The 2024 Broken Bow Savages resume their Summer Pride workouts today following a statewide mandatory hiatus as the players physically prepare for the upcoming fall season. Maverick Lang, the new head coach of the Savages, is excited about his team’s energy and enthusiasm in the weight room this summer and is eager to get them back on the practice field next month. A couple of new opponents are on the varsity football schedule this season as Glenpool and Tulsa McLain have replaced Fort Gibson and Madill in District 4A-4. McAlester, Durant and Idabel all return as the three non-district opponents, with an open date on the schedule for the week following the Idabel game. The three non-district games will all kick off at 7:30. Broken Bow celebrates homecoming and begins district play against Glenpool on Friday, September 27th. Two district games will be played on Thursday night this season, at home October 17th against Muskogee Hilldale and on the road October 31st against Tulsa McLain. The Savages play four of their seven district contests this season at home in Memorial Stadium, including their Senior Night game against Poteau on November 8th. All district games kick off at 7:00. All regular season games will be available via free live streaming on the Broken Bow Savages YouTube Channel again this year. Business media partnerships are available now by contacting us at media@bbisdapp.org. Season passes for reserved seating at the five home games this season will be available from the BBHS Athletic Department in August. General admission tickets may be purchased at the gate on game days. Who knew book club could be so wild?!?? 😆 The H3 Time Travelers Book Club, consisting of middle school and high students, traveled to Natchitoches, La for their summer culmination trip. While there, they learned about the history of the area through various tours, interacted with native wildlife, took a cruise on the Cane River Lake, and of course, enjoyed eating at local establishments! Members who attended the trip were: Madi Flowers, Kaitey Guthery, Brycen Hanks, Rylan Hanks, D'Lyric Mitchell, Jordyn Nichols, Shaylee Rowan, Jaylee Smith, Joey Swafford, Kendall Wesley, and Addison Wesley. Special thanks to Joni Flowers for making custom T-shirts. We are definitely "In Our Book Club Era!"

Summer has officially arrived and the heat is definitely rising around our Savage Football program. The players and coaches are working hard preparing themselves for the upcoming fall season. This week, three more players distinguished themselves with their strong work ethics and leadership abilities. Senior Tyrin Tinajero, junior Bentley Brown, and sophomore Greydon Howell are recognized by the coaches as our Savages of the Week. The commitment these young leaders are showing is sure to translate onto the field this fall and expectations are high for all three players. The team now enters into a "dead period" imposed by the state organization which oversees athletic competition, the OSSAA. All school sponsored athletic activities are suspended until July 8th. Players may continue to train but must do so on their own and may not use the school training facilities to do so. Way to go Savages!! Your school and your community are proud of you for your commitment to the Savage Tradition. Enjoy your break. And remember, it's always a great day to be a Savage! #SavageStrong
