Update on This Week's Activities We would like to inform you of some updates regarding this week's events: - The Broken Bow High School Track Meet, originally scheduled for Friday, will now take place on Thursday due to the potential for inclement weather. - Additionally, the first game of the Junior High Baseball Tournament will now be held at Spiro at 7:30 PM on Thursday. This change is in consideration of the funeral services for the LeFlore County sheriff’s deputy who passed away this week. We send our condolences to our upstate neighbors.

Greydon Howell’s Gridiron Honors Keep Rushing In Greydon Howell, a four-star football commitment to The University of Oklahoma, received a stellar ranking increase to number 286 in the United States from Rivals recruiting today. He just missed out on their top 300 several months ago. Rivals is lauded as one of the most respected recruiting services in the country and also bumped him from #10 to #9 in their top athletes category. Rivals evaluates recruiting rankings by utilizing in-person scouting along with studying game tape. Then they grade a prospect’s potential for college impact and their NFL potential. Howell, a four-sport star and honor student, is going into is senior season at Broken Bow.

⚾️ SAVAGES SWEEP! ⚾️ Broken Bow varsity baseball took care of business Monday, sweeping Poteau in a doubleheader — 6-3 and 11-0. Game 1: Down 3-1, the Savages rallied late. Crew Pratt tied it with an RBI single, then Paxton O’Neill crushed a 2-run homer in the seventh to seal it. Jett Johnson went all 7 innings with 9 strikeouts and zero earned runs. Game 2: No drama needed — Broken Bow exploded for 11 runs in the first three innings and never looked back. Bladen Meddock led the way with 3 RBIs, the Savages stole 7 bases, and Gage Smith threw 5 shutout innings. Two games. Two wins. Zero doubts. 🖤💛

Hilldale still has two games remaining against undefeated Sallisaw and already has two losses to the Savages. Broken Bow still has a make-up game against Eufaula, in addition to today's doubleheader against Poteau. Win both games today and the Savages position themselves as the likely district runners-up. ⚾ SAVAGES WIN! ⚾ Jett Johnson led the way on Friday as Broken Bow Varsity Baseball topped Smithville 9-4! Johnson had 3 hits and 4 RBIs, including a clutch 3-run double in the 5th to blow the game open. Kale Ginn started on the mound, and Gage Smith and Christian Martinez each threw scoreless relief innings to close it out. The Savages pounded out 13 hits on the day, with Paxton O’Neill, Crew Pratt, and Christian Martinez all contributing multiple hits. Up next — vs Poteau in an important district match up. 🎹🎻Calling all Southeast Oklahoma instrumentalists for A SUMMER COMMUNITY BAND!

🕯️Students in Mrs. Stiles’ class brought #history to life with their living wax museum! They researched historical figures, dressed up as their characters and presented interesting facts and stories about them. For the students, it was an engaging way to connect with history and for the audience it was an adventure!

⚾ VARSITY BASEBALL | GAME RECAP The Broken Bow Savages fell to the Sallisaw Black Diamonds 7-3 Monday in Game 1 of their two-game district series. Broken Bow jumped out to an early lead — Crew Pratt doubled down the left field line and Bladen Meddock singled to center to put the Savages up 2-1 after the first. But Sallisaw chipped away, taking the lead for good in the fourth inning. Pratt led the offense going 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Meddock added 2 hits. Jett Johnson pitched all seven innings, allowing 7 runs (only 2 earned) on 8 hits with 3 strikeouts. The Savages head to Sallisaw Tuesday for a Game 2 rematch. 🖤💛DOUBLE CHAMPIONS — At Idabel’s Skippy Smith Relays The Broken Bow Savages dominated the Skippy Smith Relays in Idabel from start to finish, claiming BOTH the boys and girls team titles on Friday! 🏆Boys Team Champion — 246 points 🏆 Girls Team Champion — 216 points It was a total team effort, but here are some of the standout performances that led the way: BOYS ⚡ Greydon Howell captured multiple gold medals, winning both the 100m (11.18) and 400m (50.30) - setting a new track record in the 400m ⚡ Landon Thweatt went the distance, winning the 3200m and finishing 2nd in the 1600m ⚡ Brayden Burks went 2nd in BOTH hurdle events as a freshman ⚡ Aden Hammonds launched the shot put to 48’ 1” for the win - and a new track record ⚡ Jackson Porter topped the discus field at 146’ 8” ⚡ The 4x200 and 4x400 relay squads both brought home gold 🥇 4x400 in record time GIRLS ⚡ Kylee Burris swept the sprints, winning the 100m (12.68) and 200m (25.29) - both times are new track records ⚡ Mylee Williams doubled up, winning both the 100m and 300m hurdles ⚡ Adelyn French added a runner-up finish in the 100m hurdles — Broken Bow went 1-2! ⚡ Jaylen Cauthron cleared 5’ 2” to win the high jump ⚡ Lyla Braxton and Mackila Dansby went 2nd and 3rd in discus, 2nd and 4th in shot put ⚡ The girls swept relay gold in the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 🥇🥇🥇 From the track to the field, the Savages competed with heart and intensity all day long and dominated the meet. The Atoka meet begins on Thursday with junior high competition, followed by varsity action on Friday.

⚾ SAVAGE VARSITY BASEBALL | McAlester Festival Recap Game 1 | Broken Bow 2, Tushka 6 — L The Savages outhit Tushka 11-5 but couldn’t get the runs to match. Greydon Howell led the way going 4-for-4, and Tyler Martinez drove in the lone RBI with a double down the left field line. A tough one, but the bats were there. Game 2 | Broken Bow 3, Byng 2 — W ✅ The Savages bounced back in a big way! Tied at 2 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Blake Skelton came through with a single to seal the victory. Christian Martinez, Skelton, and Bladen Meddock each drove in a run. Will Scott dealt a solid outing on the mound, and the defense was flawless — zero errors in both games. Rector Johnson Middle School ELA students Ariana Sosa and Riley Rhyne recently attended a live performance of The Ant and the Grasshopper at Montgomery Auditorium on the campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Presented by the American Association of University Women and performed by members of Theatre at Southeastern, the production brought Aesop’s classic fable to life through an engaging and spirited performance that captivated the audience. Rhyne noted that one of the highlights was the imaginative set design, which depicted a larger-than-life backyard complete with an oversized mushroom, a Chinese takeout box, and a cocoon. He also praised the cast, describing them as well-suited to their roles, with the Bronx Ladybug standing out as a favorite. Sosa said the production delivered “a valuable lesson that people could learn from today,” emphasizing the theme of balancing responsibility and enjoyment. “The lesson that the ant and the grasshopper learned was to first work, then play,” she said. “People can apply this in their everyday lives by working to be prepared, then taking time to have fun.” During the performance, both students took notes, sketched elements of the set, and observed audience reactions. They returned to class with a deeper understanding of live theater, which they will use to inform their writing. Both Sosa and Rhyne said they enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to others.

The Savages struck early — Christian Martinez singled and Crew Pratt doubled to left to put two on the board in the first inning. Broken Bow extended the lead in the third on a Bladen Meddock single and a Hilldale error. On the mound, Jett Johnson dealt 5⅔ innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out three. Greydon Howell came on to close it out and earn the save. At the plate, Crew Pratt was the offensive standout — going 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs.
