SOFTBALL GAME DAY (2)
Hello! My name is Becky Jones and I'm joining the Dierks family this year. I was born in North Carolina and moved to Oklahoma in 1979 and graduated from Idabel High School in 1990. I’ve been happily married to my husband, Daniel, for 11 years. We have two wonderful kids, Derick and Kendra, along with six grandsons and a great-grandson who will be arriving in December! In my free time, I enjoy glass etching, riding motorcycles, camping, and spending time with my grandkids. I consider myself a mountaineer with a bit of country charm. I love being around people and always hope to bring a smile to their faces. If you ever need a helping hand, I’m here for you! I have eight years of experience working in a school kitchen and also work for the Boys and Girls Club in Broken Bow. Three days a week, I go to Davita Dialysis to keep things clean. Staying busy is something I truly enjoy. Life is a blessing, and I cherish every moment!

🕊️ With heavy hearts and joyful memories, we remember Jeannie Batchelor Class of 1970. Roger and Jeannie were high school sweethearts and she wore her love proudly in Roger's letter jacket. Roger is pictured wearing the sweater the school bought for the football players. Roger and Jeannie are the aunt and uncle of our Varsity Cheer Coach Charisse Berryhill. “She passed away on Monday and we found it. Even though I’m broken hearted, I found so much joy in this photo. 🩷,” Berryhill said. #BBHS #LetterJacketChallenge #InLovingMemory Text your OG letter jacket pictures and the year you graduated to Savage Signal at: 📞870-279-4926 Or email pics to: 📩Media@bbisdapp.org

Pictured is the Broken Bow Scouts baseball team, 1917-18. Prior to 1924, the Broken Bow School mascot was the Scout. In 1924, the student body submitted nominations for a new mascot. Billy Morgan, Broken Bow football player submitted the idea of the Broken Bow Savage. When the student body voted, Billy's proposal was chosen and has stuck for the last 101 years. The following years, the Idabel Wildcats changed their mascot officially to the Idabel Tushka. The word, "Tushka" means warrior in the Choctaw language and the mascot quickly became more commonly referred to as the Idabel Warriors. However, the original form of the mascot was intended to pay homage to the Choctaw heritage of the area. This great photo comes to us courtesy of the Broken Bow Scout yearbook, published in 1918.

🍎 Hello! Lawson Coulter here, the new Agriculture Education Teacher at Broken Bow High School! A graduate of Valliant High School, I later attended Eastern Oklahoma State College, where I was part of the Meat Judging Team. After finishing at Eastern, I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education in May. As a dedicated Pokes fan, college football season is a favorite time of year. Outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and golfing also are fun pastimes. Excitement surrounds the opportunity to teach ag mechanics and food science while working with students in shooting sports, livestock, and various activities. I am thrilled to be a Broken Bow Savage!

Chris Wood, from Southeast OK Woodturner's Club, came and spent the day teaching the kids how to make pens on the wood lathes. The kids had a great time making pens and they look forward to learning how to make duck calls, deer grunt calls, bowls, glasses, jewelry, and many many other things. Big "Thank You" to Chris for taking time to invest in our kids!

🌳 Forestry Class in Action! 🌳 Our students are gaining hands-on experience in the field! Today, they learned how to set up the transit and take accurate readings using a Philadelphia rod. These skills are a key part of surveying, and our students are building both knowledge and confidence through real-world practice. 📏🌲 Proud of their hard work and dedication! #builtontraditionboundforgreatness
