"As a proud 2003 graduate of Broken Bow High School, I've been a dedicated volunteer with the Band Booster Club for the past eight years, serving as President for the last three. My family's passion for music runs deep: our daughter, Addison, is a senior who has been in the band for eight years, and our son, David, is a seventh-grader at Rector Johnson Middle School and is in his third year with the program. My husband, Luke, and I wholeheartedly support the upcoming bond measure to refurbish the football stadium and build a new elementary school. Please remember to vote on October 14th for the betterment of our children!" Lisa Evans Williams BBHS Class of 2003

✅Broken Bow Public Schools encourages everyone living within the Broken Bow School District (I-74) to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming school bond election. The election will be held on Tuesday, October 14th, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. and proposes a $69.5 million dollar bond sale to fund the construction of a new elementary school campus and the renovation of Broken Bow's historic Memorial Stadium.

🏫The new elementary school will be constructed on newly acquired land adjacent to the high school and middle school, replacing Bennett and Dierks Elementary Schools. The new school is designed with the safety of our students as a top priority, and the consolidation of our school campus introduces a new level of security and efficiency within our school system.

🏈The proposal will also bring new life to our beloved Memorial Stadium. Improvements to spectator seating, food concessions, public restrooms and the playing surface are a few of the benefits of this proposed renovation. The stadium, which was dedicated in 1941, is one of the few fully-intact WPA stadiums remaining in our state. Our hope is to preserve and restore this historic arena for generations to come.

Some frequently asked questions we have received regarding this election are:

Q) Who can vote in the election?
A) According to Oklahoma Law, all registered voters whose primary residence is within the geographical boundaries of Broken Bow School District (I-74) may cast a vote in this election. Property ownership is not a requirement.

Q) Is this a sales tax increase?
A) No, this is a school bond proposal which is funded by property taxes.

Q) How much will my property taxes increase if this bond sale is approved?
A) All non-exempt parcels within the Broken Bow School District will have a one-time increase of 5.5% applied to their property taxes upon approval of this bond. This means that for every $100 of your current property tax bill, an additional $5.50 will be added. Example: If your current annual tax bill is $500, it will increase to $527.50.

Q) Will my property taxes increase 5.5% every year for the life of the bond?
A) No, the tax increase does not compound annually. It remains until the bond is paid off but the 5.5% is only applied once.

Early voting begins this week and polls open at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14th. Please come out and support this bond to help us build for the future of our children!

🥎Savage Softball advanced into Thursday's OSSAA Regional Finals with a pair of shutout wins on Wednesday. Kash Goss pitched a 5-inning no hitter and the Savage bats added the needed run support as Broken Bow downed Catoosa 10-0 in the opening round. Mylee Williams drove in three runs and Jaylen Cauthron scored three more in the run-rule victory. In the semifinal round, Tyson Woolsey handcuffed a very good McLoud squad with some stellar pitching and, once again, the Savage bats delivered clutch hits and smart base running to capture the 5-0 win. Jaylen Cauthron was 3 for 3 with two runs scored and Kash Goss drove in a pair of runs to help pace the Savage offense. Khloe Williams and Adelyn French also delivered big hits in the game. Broken Bow now awaits the winner of tomorrow's McLoud vs Checotah rematch. The Regional Finals game is scheduled for 2:00 PM. If a second game is needed, it will begin immediately afterwards.
