Dear Broken Bow Public Schools Students, Parents, and Guardians,
In accordance with newly enacted Oklahoma State Law, Broken Bow Schools has implemented a new policy prohibiting the use of cell phones and personal electronic devices on campus from bell to bell. This policy will include specific disciplinary procedures for any violations.
To clarify, "bell to bell" refers to the time frame from the first bell of the day at 7:55 AM until the last bell at 3:25 PM. Personal electronic devices encompass various items including, but not limited to, smart watches, smart headphones, laptops, tablets, and smart glasses. It is important to note that school-issued or school-approved devices intended specifically for classroom instruction are excluded from this policy. Special provisions are also included to assist students who require immediate access to their devices for medical purposes.
Over the next few weeks leading up to the start of the new academic year, we will publish resources such as the Broken Bow ISD Student Cell Phone/Electronic Device Guidelines for both High School and Middle School as well as specific procedures that students must follow in order to secure their devices prior to entering school buildings.
We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this state mandate. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to create a focused learning environment for our students.
