Yeah, It's Been a While

October 4, 2018

So, it's been quite some time since I've posted a blog update.

Our new school year is in full swing and we are almost finished with the 1st 9 weeks.  I hope everyone is doing well and keeping up with their grades on STI Home.

Current Events has just started a new project on Immigration.  We will begin by talking about immigration and Ellis Island in the 1900's.  We will also take the US Citizenship test, and then talk about why people actually want to come to the US.

World History is in the middle of the Protestant Reformation.  This religious upheaval brought big changes to the world and is how the US got many of our citizens.

The US Government class is studying the colonies and the transition between the English ruling documents to the "USA" documents.

ALL SOPHOMORES will be taking the Pre-ACT on Tuesday, Oct 9th.  Get a good breakfast and do your best.  When in doubt, answer B.

The fast-pitch softball teams begins the district tournament at 2:00 pm on Thursday, Oct 4 in Hilldale.  I haven't found a way to listen to it yet.  The football team squares off against Stillwell Friday night.  Good luck to both teams!

Hang in there - Fall Break is just around the corner - October 17, 18, 19!!

Back to School

August 12, 2017

It is Saturday.  I'm in my classroom, working on a few projects and I can't help but to feel a little overwhelmed at all the "Back-to-School" stuff there is for me to complete.  I know my students are feeling the same way.  They've been inundated with new things for two days and are probably having trouble putting the right information and rules to the right teacher or hour.  Today's advice:  Don't be discouraged!  You will have it all figured out soon, and so will I.  Have a great weekend.  See you on Monday!

July 13, 2017

I am in my classroom on July 13th.  And you thought teachers had the summer off?  Teachers do have tasks to complete during the summer, there are simply some things that we must do before the students are in the building.  While the building is empty, I have time to think about what I hope for the upcoming school year.  I have a few goals that I will share with my classes when school starts.  I hope that you have goals as well.  I hope this next school year is the best for you.  I hope you reach the milestones you have set for yourself.  It's a great time to be a Savage.  Enjoy the last weeks of summer!

So...Yesterday was Back to the Future Day.

October 22, 2015

Yeah, that happened.  When I was a kid, Back to the Future was one of the greatest movies ever.  I remember wishing I had a hover board and wanting a self-fitting jacket and automatic shoes.  Yesterday, I thought about all the changes that had happened over the last 30 years.  I do have a phone where I can talk to people and look at them at the same time.  Having multiple TVs in a household is a reality.  Hoverboards are real.  Google glasses are real.  As a history teacher, I find the accurateness of the predictions somewhat humorous.  What do the next 30 years hold in store for us?  Maybe flying cars.  I can't wait to see.  Now to figure out how to generate 1.21 Gigawatts.

Our Lady Savage Softball team is going to state!  These girls have worked hard and have given their whole heart to reaching this goal.  I'm so proud of our girls.  Way to go.
