New Constitutional Carry Laws and Broken Bow Schools
ATTENTION TO ALL WHO VISIT OUR SCHOOL CAMPUSES
Last Friday (11/01/19), a new law went into effect which allows, in many cases, open or concealed carry of a firearm without a license. This law DID NOT change any statute as it applies to carrying a firearm on school property. Currently, only SWORN PEACE OFFICERS are allowed to carry a firearm on school property. The persons will have clear identification of their status as a peace office visible on their person. This rule/law/statute includes all school property, regardless of the occasion or sponsor.
The only exception allowed applies to concealed permit holders: a firearm may be carried inside a car (non-school owned vehicle) in the parking lot. The firearm must be out of sight at all times. If the vehicle is unattended, said vehicle must be locked.
STUDENTS ARE NEVER ALLOWED TO HAVE FIREARMS OR OTHER WEAPONS ON SCHOOL PROPERTY.
