👟It was a record-breaking day for Broken Bow Track at the OSSAA State Championship Meet in Catoosa on Friday. Four school records were broken in the preliminary heats as Broken Bow advanced into Saturday's finals in seven different events.
Sophomore sensation Kylee Burris became the first ever Lady Savage to eclipse the 12 second mark in the girls 100 meter dash with a blistering 11.94 seconds, beating the previous school mark of 12.12 set by Teanna Butler in 2012. Burris also broke her own record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.40 seconds. She easily qualified for Saturday's finals in both events. She also qualified as a member of the 4x100 relay team along with Jaylen Cauthron, Amiya Cherry, and Jah'niyah Ashton with a time of 49.23 seconds. Cauthron also finished tied for 8th place in the high jump today. Adelyn French qualified for the finals in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.82 seconds.
Savage phenom Greydon Howell also set school records in two events today, beating his previous mark in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.34 seconds, and breaking the school record in the 400 meter run with a time of 47.64 seconds. The previous record in the 400 meters was set by Kendall Short in 1998 with a time of 48.15 seconds. Freshman Brayden Burks also qualified for tomorrow's final in the 300 meter hurdles in 39.47 seconds.
Friday's preliminary round was cut short due to inclement weather and will resume Saturday morning where it left off.
Congratulations to Kylee and Greydon on their milestone performances on Friday and good luck to all of our athletes as they move into Saturday's final round!
